Old favourites from Primark

It wasn't until I uploaded the photos of this outfit that I realised that it involves a lot of Primark. I know there is a lot of debate over Primark, and the high street in general at the moment, but one thing I've never really found with Primark is that it's awful quality. Many items that I have bought there have lasted me a long time, these items have both been in my wardrobe for over a year:

Jumper: Primark, Vest (worn underneath): H&M, Shorts: Primark, Necklace: ASOS, Tights: Primark, Shoes: Primark

I had no idea what I wanted today so I reached for some old favourites (the jumper has featured in a Style on a Sunday post) that I've never worn together before and I really like it, although I wish it had a bit more colour. To tackle that slight problem I think this could really work with a pair of coloured tights instead of black opaques. Although I'm still at home on my mini holiday from work, I also think this would be a great outfit for the office too - maybe with a jacket? Anyway, I'm rambling...

What do you think of Primark? Have you been disappointed with the quality of their pieces?

I do love Primark, most of the pieces are pretty good quality - and so I think it can be really good value for money. The only gripe I have is that the prices seem to going up and up, for no real noticable change in quality. Nowadays I'm more likely to buy "vintage" pieces (charity shops/ebay/vintage shops) that are similar priced, but more original and usually better quality.

I've noticed this too, and at the moment I'm really not liking any of their collections, but sometimes you hit on a gem that just lasts ages!

I find real vintage difficult, because it usually comes up quite small, and alas I am not small. I want to get more into ebay, and I think when I have a bit more money I might try looking for things there. I want to shop in charity shops, Jen (A Little Bird Told Me) put together a list of vintage and charity shops in Leeds which I really want to check out soon!x

Personally I expect my clothes to last longer than a year - I don't have the spare cash to replace my wardrobe that often! I think Primark can be pretty decent but you have to be fussy about what you buy from there as a *lot* of it is cheap, nasty tat. Mind you, most shops seem to hiking up prices and reducing the quality of their construction and fabric at the moment so I don't single Primark out in particular for this.

I completely agree (although I'm definitely guilty of buying pieces that I won't want to wear after a year), I only meant that I've had these items well over a year, the jumper probably two, and they aren't falling apart, and sometimes horror stories from Primark suggest that everything falls apart after the first wash!

I definitely agree that you have to be picky, sometimes I will pick up a dress and think the fabric is absolutely awful, other times I'll think it's as good quality as anywhere else on the high street. I've definitely noiced higher prices for no difference in quality too.

Thanks for your comment :) x
